YDK ELECTRIC ACTUATED BUTTERFLY VALVE

The YDK electric actuated butterfly valve is an automatic open/close butterfly valve that eliminates manual operation. Like other isolation valves, it has two states: ON (fully open) and OFF (fully closed). It is therefore not suitable for throttling or regulating fluid flow.

Electric actuated butterfly valves are commonly used in automated piping systems such as water supply and drainage, fire protection, HVAC, and industrial projects.

Introducing the YDK Electric Actuated Butterfly Valve

The YDK electric actuated butterfly valve is made of durable GGG50 ductile iron, coated with epoxy paint for corrosion resistance in harsh environments. Its standout feature is the stamped CF8/SS304 stainless steel disc, which offers excellent corrosion resistance and a smooth surface that minimizes flow resistance. The EPDM seat has good elasticity, ensuring a tight seal at working pressures of PN10 – PN16.

Acting as the “brain” of the valve, the electric actuator converts electrical energy into powerful torque, rotating the disc through 0º to 90º. The actuator housing is made of high-pressure die-cast aluminum alloy and designed to the IP67 standard for water and dust resistance, allowing stable operation outdoors or in high-humidity conditions. The actuator also features a built-in hex key / auxiliary handwheel override, allowing technicians to open and close the valve manually during emergency power outages.

The YDK electric actuated butterfly valve runs on an AC220V power supply with 35W power consumption, and integrates flexibly into most central control panels and automated PLC systems.

Transmission mechanism inside the electric actuator

Inside the actuator is a small AC electric motor. When it receives an electrical signal from the control panel or a switch, the motor rotates and drives a reduction gearbox that raises the torque to a sufficiently high level (up to 150 Nm) while lowering the rotation speed to a suitable level. The motion is then transmitted to the stem of the butterfly valve below, rotating the disc 90º to close or open.

ON/OFF mechanism

Unlike modulating actuators, which can stop at any angle according to the signal, the ON/OFF actuator of the YDK electric actuated butterfly valve operates in only two fixed states: fully closed or fully open. Inside the actuator, limit switches are set at the 0º and 90º positions. When the disc reaches the fully closed or fully open position, the limit switch contacts its stop and cuts power to the motor, halting movement at the right moment. This prevents the motor from continuing to run, which could cause overload or damage the disc and seat through excess torque.

Control signal

The actuator receives open or close commands through a simple electrical signal, usually from a local toggle switch, a push button on the control panel, or a relay contact from an automation system (PLC, water level sensor, fire alarm system). On an open command, the motor turns in one direction to bring the disc to the open position. On a close command, the motor reverses to bring the disc to the closed position.
